Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a Payroll Clerk to input and process payroll information under direct supervision, supporting departmental operations and reporting. The role involves handling high-volume inquiries, data entry from payroll forms, and ensuring accurate payroll records.

Qualifications

• Fundamental knowledge of payroll concepts, practices and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.
• A solid customer service acumen and interpersonal skills to effectively work with both internal and external customers and respond to requests in a timely and respectful manner.
• Detail oriented with strong planning and organizational skills while balancing multiple priorities.
• Computer skills proficiency inclusive of ability to access, enter, and interpret computerized data/information.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Answers high volume of telephone inquiries from employees, departments and vendors; routes other calls accordingly.
• Completes data entry from payroll forms, time sheets, production records, or individual time cards to computerized payroll system.
• Ensures accuracy of entries including employee name, days worked, overtime earnings if any, date, gross pay, deductions, required withholding's and net earnings.
• Computes withholding's and deductions where multi-state tax laws are involved as well as payments on sales draws and commissions.
• Prepares payroll for distribution; processes purchase requisitions and travel requests/reimbursements.
• Maintains inventory and ordering of office supplies. Sorts and distributes all incoming mail.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
