Job description

Rutkoski Fencing specializes in high-security fencing, gates, and access control for applications including power plants, substations, wind farms, airports, prisons, state DOT, and other commercial and government facilities. General Summary:
The Payroll Clerk is part of the Administrative Department. They report to the company Controller.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll for employees on a scheduled basis (e.g., weekly, biweekly, or monthly).

  • Collect and verify timesheets, attendance records, and other payroll-related data.

  • Calculate wages, overtime, deductions, and bonuses.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws.

  • Maintain accurate payroll records and update employee payroll information as needed within the payroll system.

  • Address employee inquiries regarding payroll, taxes, benefits, and deductions.

  • Stay updated on construction industry regulations regarding payroll, including prevailing wage laws and worker classification.

  • Prepare certified payroll forms for state and federal wage projects and union monthly remittance.

  • Generate payroll reports such as project-specific labor cost breakdowns and assist with audits as necessary.

  • Collaborate with HR and accounting departments on any payroll-related issues and projects.

General Responsibilities:

  • Follow electronic and paper document management procedures.

  • Abide by company policies and procedures as set forth in company handbooks.

  • Complete any other task, within reason of scope, not listed in the job description.

  • Comply with all other rules, guidelines, and policies of customers and the law. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.

  • Observe and maintain a consistent work schedule and come to work fit for duty.

  • Embrace and promote a safe, positive work culture with a strong focus on process improvement, quality, and safety.

  • Maintain "good housekeeping" practices and be respectful of any company property such as tools, equipment, buildings, vehicles, and the property of others.

  • Ensure timely completion of specific tasks required of the position with any required documentation.

  • Display a sincere, professional attitude and receive and implement constructive feedback.

  • Obtain and maintain all necessary requirements of the position.

External Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or four (4) years of experience preferred.

  • Experience processing payroll in the construction industry.

  • Experience with ADP payroll management or similar system.

  • Ability to provide references upon request.
