Job summary

Marshall Community Credit Union is seeking an HR & Payroll Coordinator to own payroll, manage benefits, and maintain employee records. You will support all steps from job postings to the employee's last day, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance across the organization.

You'll handle open enrollment, COBRA compliance, onboarding, and background checks while partnering with management and HR colleagues to drive a positive employee experience in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in human resources, business administration, accounting, or a related field
• 1–2 years of payroll processing, HR support, or a related administrative role
• Working knowledge of payroll and benefits administration principles and practices
• Familiarity with employment laws, benefits administration, and HR documentation
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and HRIS/payroll systems (Paylocity experience a plus)

Responsibilities

• Own bi-weekly payroll from start to finish.
• Handle benefits enrollments, changes, and terminations, working with our broker and vendors.
• Help run annual open enrollment and COBRA compliance.
• Own employee records and personnel files in our HRIS and related systems.
• Prepare HR correspondence, including offer letters and leave notices.
• Support recruiting behind the scenes with postings and applicant tracking.
• Coordinate new hire onboarding, including background checks and checklists.
• Track performance appraisals, disciplinary documentation, and training records.
• Support internal audits and regulatory reporting (I-9, EEO, AAP).
• Work with the HR Manager on department projects and initiatives.
