Job summary

Denton County Transportation Authority is seeking a Payroll & Benefits Administrator in Denton, TX. You will serve as the payroll SME, ensuring accurate biweekly payroll and compliant payroll processing across the organization.

You will lead year-end processing, payroll tax reporting, and benefits administration. The role requires strong knowledge of FLSA, ACA, and wage laws, with open enrollment management and carrier liaison responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive payroll experience.
• Experience in compliance-driven payroll environments.
• Experience administering employee benefits programs.
• Strong knowledge of FLSA, wage and hour laws, payroll taxes, and ACA requirements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as payroll SME ensuring accurate biweekly payroll for all employees.
• Audit payroll prior to submission to validate overtime, holiday pay rules, and deductions.
• Maintain internal controls and payroll audit procedures.
• Lead payroll year-end processing including W-2s and tax reconciliation.
• Prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax reporting.
• Oversee administration of all employee benefits programs and enrollment.
• Manage annual open enrollment and carrier relationships.
• Reconcile benefits billing and deductions monthly.
