Job summary

Denton Independent School District is seeking a Director of Compensation to lead the district’s compensation programs, payroll operations, and related HR services. The role focuses on accurate payroll processing, wage compliance, and strategic pay structure initiatives.

Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the position requires strong analytical skills, advanced payroll knowledge, and ability to drive district-wide compensation and compliance projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, accounting, or a related field.
• Master’s degree (preferred).
• Professional certification in human resources, payroll, or compensation (preferred).
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, payroll administration, compensation, or a related field, including supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee district HR operations, including payroll administration, unemployment claims, employment eligibility compliance, and compensation initiatives.
• Provide operational leadership to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant HR services while supporting strategic HR, compensation, and compliance initiatives.
• Oversee compensation policies, pay grade placement, and job descriptions; conduct job analyses for classification and exemptions.
• Coordinate annual compensation review and salary schedule updates; monitor adjustments for accuracy and compliance.
• Lead data analyses and reporting for compensation and payroll projects; ensure data integrity.
