The Payroll and HR Administrative Assistant provides day-to-day support to the Payroll Supervisor by assisting with payroll processing and serving as a trained backup for the payroll function, while also carrying out a range of administrative programs on behalf of the Human Resources department, including invoice payment processing, service awards, the educational assistance (tuition reimbursement) program, and the employee referral program. This role requires accuracy, discretion with confidential information, and the ability to move between payroll deadlines and HR administrative work as needs arise.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Workday.com experience highly preferred, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office products and the ability to learn and utilize MFA systems and technologies. Experience in payroll, HR administration, or a related administrative role preferred, including basic knowledge of payroll processes, government filings, regulations, and tax requirements; general knowledge of employment law preferred. Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, organizational, time-management, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and professional working relationships. Self-motivated, organized, and results-oriented, with the ability to work independently, demonstrate sound and timely decision-making, take initiative, and collaborate effectively with team members. Ability and willingness to represent and uphold MFA’s mission, vision, values, and culture while adhering to all safety, compliance, and procedural requirements.
