We are seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Administrator to join an established organization in Northern Virginia. This newly created position will primarily focus on payroll administration while also providing support across employee benefits.
The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience processing payroll, working with multi-state employees, reviewing payroll taxes, and auditing payroll data for accuracy. Prior benefits exposure is important, although this position does not require a benefits expert.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the processing of weekly and biweekly payroll cycles.
- Enter and review employee hours, earnings, deductions, tax information, and payroll changes.
- Audit payroll data prior to processing to identify errors, discrepancies, or missing information.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee pay-related questions.
- Support multi-state payroll administration and related payroll tax requirements.
- Assist with payroll tax reporting, reconciliations, and compliance activities.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation.
- Provide backup payroll support across multiple business entities as needed.
- Assist with benefits administration, including employee enrollments, terminations, changes, and general questions.
- Partner with HR and payroll team members to ensure employee information is processed accurately and on time.
- Assist with quarter‑end, year‑end, and other payroll‑related reporting and reconciliation activities.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of hands‑on payroll experience.
- Experience processing weekly and/or biweekly payroll.
- Multi‑state payroll and payroll tax experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with California payroll is a significant plus.
- Exposure to employee benefits administration required.
- Experience with a major payroll/HRIS platform required.
- Strong ability to audit payroll information, identify errors, and resolve discrepancies.
- Comfortable supporting payroll across multiple business entities or employee populations.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree is a plus but not required.
