Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage and process payroll for employees accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, maintain confidentiality, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll.
- Maintain accurate employee payroll records and validate personnel changes such as new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and benefits deductions.
- Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and other earnings.
- Ensure accurate payroll tax withholdings and deductions.
- Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management and accounting teams.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and timekeeping.
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies.
- Coordinate with Human Resources and Finance to maintain accurate employee data.
- Process garnishments, child support orders, and other required deductions.
- Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2s, tax filings, and audits.
- Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (preferred).
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience.
- Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage and hour compliance.
- Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, Payroll4Construction, or similar).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
- Experience with multi-state or multi-country payroll.
- Knowledge of payroll accounting and general ledger reconciliation.
