Job summary

Jobtailor in Morrisville, NC is seeking an experienced Payroll Administrator to manage multi-state payroll across 200+ employees. You will ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with wage and hour laws while maintaining comprehensive payroll records.

Responsibilities include processing weekly to semi-monthly payroll, auditing timekeeping data, preparing reports for audits, and supporting HR with payroll changes and year-end tasks. Strong Excel and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, HR, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of payroll administration experience.
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, and best practices.
  • Multi-state payroll processing experience.
  • Experience processing payroll for 200+ employees.
  • Proficiency with Excel, including formulas and lookups.
  • Strong attention to detail and high accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Process multi-state payroll on a weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly basis with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review, audit, and reconcile employee timekeeping data, attendance, overtime, and leave balances.
  • Maintain payroll records and employee earnings, deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings.
  • Administer payroll changes including new hires, terminations, promotions, and benefit deductions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
  • Support prevailing wage projects by tracking and reporting certified payroll and fringe benefits.
  • Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and documents for audits.
  • Partner with HR to keep employee records and payroll info accurate.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, taxes, and payroll policies.
  • Coordinate payroll tax filings and support year-end activities including W-2 processing.
  • Monitor payroll system functionality and recommend process improvements.
  • Assist with labor distribution reporting, job costing, and workforce reporting.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.

  • Review, audit, and reconcile employee timekeeping data, attendance records, overtime, and paid leave balances
  • Maintain payroll records and employee earnings, deductions, garnishments, tax withholdings, and direct deposit information
  • Administer payroll-related changes including new hires, terminations, promotions, compensation changes, and benefit deductions
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws
  • Support prevailing wage projects by accurately tracking, processing, and reporting certified payroll and applicable fringe benefits
  • Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for internal and external audits
  • Partner with Human Resources to ensure employee records and payroll information remain accurate and current
  • Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, taxes, leave balances, and payroll policies
  • Coordinate payroll tax filings and support year-end activities, including W-2 processing and payroll reconciliations
  • Monitor and maintain payroll system functionality and recommend process improvements where appropriate
  • Assist with labor distribution reporting, job costing, and workforce reporting as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information at all times
Requirements
  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • 3–5 years of payroll administration experience
  • Strong understanding of payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, and payroll best practices
  • Multi-state payroll processing experience
  • Experience processing payroll for a workforce of 200+ employees
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, lookups, and data reconciliation
  • Strong attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
