Job summary

Jobtailor in Morrisville, NC seeks an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee end-to-end payroll for a multi-state workforce, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

You will review data, maintain compliance with federal and state laws, and serve as the primary contact for complex payroll inquiries while driving process improvements and timely reporting to leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience.
  • 5–7 years of progressive payroll experience including multi-state processing.
  • Experience with organizations of 200+ employees.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and wage-and-hour laws.
  • Experience with prevailing wage requirements and certified payroll reporting.
  • Advanced Excel skills with formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and data reconciliation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee end-to-end payroll processing for a multi-state workforce, ensuring timely and accurate payroll execution.
  • Review, approve, and reconcile payroll data, including timekeeping records, overtime, shift differentials, paid leave, deductions, garnishments, and direct deposits.
  • Ensure payroll processes are completed in compliance with internal controls, company policies, and applicable regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for complex payroll-related issues and escalated employee inquiries.
  • Administer payroll-related employee lifecycle transactions, including new hires, separations, compensation changes, bonuses, promotions, and benefit deductions.
  • Track all company actions and reporting to ensure compliance with the IRA and report on compliance to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support payroll and operations team to ensure prevailing wage standards are met.
  • Monitor regulatory changes impacting payroll and implement process modifications as required.
  • Prepare payroll reports, labor distribution reports, workforce analytics, and job-costing data for leadership.
  • Analyze payroll trends and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reporting accuracy.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 5–7 years of progressive payroll experience, including ownership of multi-state payroll processing.
  • Experience managing payroll for organizations with 200+ employees.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, payroll tax regulations, and federal and state wage-and-hour laws.
  • Demonstrated experience with prevailing wage requirements and certified payroll reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and data reconciliation.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
