Plote Construction Inc. is hiring an Accounting Manager to lead payroll processing across multiple companies, ensure compliance, and support accounting operations.

You will manage end-to-end payroll, W-2s and audits, and collaborate with HR/Finance to maintain accurate payroll data and timely reports. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or 5+ years of experience, plus 3–5 years in a high-volume union payroll environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or 5+ years of equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of payroll experience in a high-volume union environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Job costing experience or exposure.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end payroll processing for multiple companies and employee types.
• Prepare and analyze payroll-related and regulatory reports.
• Support year-end processes including W-2s and audits.
• Oversee payroll registers, distributions, and related entries.
• Submit union reports and payment requests for Chicagoland unions.
• Collaborate with AP/AR/GL and cross-functional teams on payroll initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with federal/state/local payroll laws and union contracts.
• Lead payroll audits and resolve discrepancies; coordinate with auditors.
