Job summary

Shook Construction is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead end-to-end payroll for field and office staff, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance. You will be the payroll systems expert, driving automation and data integrity across platforms, and collaborating with IT, HR, and Finance to support scalable processes.

The role requires strong attention to detail, 5–10 years of accounting/finance experience, and experience with union regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
• 5–10 years of accounting/finance experience.
• 3–5 years construction industry experience preferred.
• Union payroll experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll for field and office employees with accuracy and timeliness.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state/local and union regulations.
• Interpret CBAs for wages, overtime and fringe benefits where applicable.
• Manage remittance of union dues and pension/health contributions.
• File payroll taxes and statutory reports on time.
• Audit payroll data and resolve discrepancies with HR/Finance.
• Maintain payroll system configurations and master data.
• Support payroll system upgrades and integrations with IT/HR.
• Assist with audits and payroll documentation requests.
• Develop and document scalable payroll procedures.
