Argen Corporation in San Diego, CA seeks a Payroll Accountant to oversee payroll processing, tax documentation, and related accounting entries. The role supports automation efforts and ensures accurate deductions, benefits, and balance of payroll accounts.

The candidate will manage timecard reviews, year-end payroll reports, and cross-functional collaboration with finance for audits. A strong grasp of GAAP payroll concepts and ERP systems is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field.
• 2–4 years of payroll experience, including posting journal entries and accruals.
• Understanding accrual-basis accounting and payroll tax concepts.
• Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• ERP/GL experience (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Dynamics) and payroll platforms (ADP/Paylocity).
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and distribute payroll; ensure taxes, deductions, and benefits are logged.
• Process commissions, bonuses, and payroll-related journals and accruals.
• Maintain audit-ready payroll records; support annual audits.
• Identify and implement payroll process improvements and automation.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal payroll regulations.
