Job summary

Arcadia Power, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Multi-State Payroll Accountant to manage end-to-end payroll operations across multiple U.S. states. You will handle payroll processing, journal entries, and reconciliations while partnering with People Ops to ensure tax compliance and accurate general ledger postings.

You will work in a remote-friendly environment with access to co-working spaces and a compensation range that reflects market norms for a senior payroll role in the United States.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• 3+ years of payroll accounting experience, with 2+ years across multiple states.
• Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll tax rules and wage/hour laws.
• Experience with payroll systems such as Rippling, ADP, Paylocity, UKG.
• Proficiency with Excel and GAAP-related payroll journal entries.
• High attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information.
• Excellent organizational skills with multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly payroll for employees across multiple entities and 30+ states.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
• Register and maintain state/local tax accounts as the company expands.
• Reconcile payroll tax filings and coordinate with third-party vendors.
• Reconcile payroll GL accounts monthly and resolve discrepancies with Accounting.
• Answer employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and tax withholdings.
• Manage year-end payroll processes, including W-2s and reconciliations.
• Support internal/external payroll audits with documentation and variance explanations.
• Identify and implement process improvements for payroll accuracy and efficiency.
• Stay current on multi-state payroll legislation and flag compliance risks.
