Job summary

Lumion is seeking an experienced engineering leader to own the payments vertical as it scales. You will lead the engineering team responsible for Lumion’s payments platform, including ledgers, allocation, interest accrual, taxes, fees, refunds, and settlements, while collaborating with servicing to improve collections and revenue.

The role combines leadership with hands-on programming in a modern stack (PHP/Laravel favored but not required).

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience building and shipping production software.
• Background may be in PHP, Java, C#, Python, Ruby, Go, TypeScript, or another modern language. Depth matters more than language.
• Real payments or financial-systems experience.
• Led experienced engineers and owned production systems involving money movement and financial recordkeeping.
• Understand ledgers, reconciliation, settlement, idempotency, payment allocation, refunds, chargebacks, and returns.

Responsibilities

• Lead the payments platform engineering team and own systems behind payment plans, ledgers, allocation, and payoff calculations.
• Guide servicing and product direction to improve collection performance and revenue.
• Work hands-on inside the code, review designs, and solve difficult production problems.
• Set technical direction, standards, and coach engineers; balance leadership with hands-on coding.
