Stripe is seeking an experienced Payments Optimization Lead to drive data-driven discussions with merchants, focusing on costs, acceptance, fraud, and cross-border flows. You will craft optimization narratives, build tools, and partner with Sales and Customer Success to ensure merchants derive maximum value from Stripe’s platform.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in payments or operations at a tech company or payments consultancy.
• Deep expertise in card network costs at the acquirer level.
• Deep expertise in interchange and scheme fees at the merchant level.
• Understanding of e-commerce payments and optimization strategies.
• Knowledge of card network rules, local payment methods, and regulation (PSD2/PSD3).
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and thrive in ambiguity.
• Strong communication and data-driven storytelling for merchants.

Responsibilities

• Lead discussions with merchants and equip Sales with tools and training.
• Be the internal and merchant-facing expert on payment optimization strategies.
• Develop optimization narratives/tools with rigorous analysis.
• Build and deploy optimization playbooks using Stripe tools.
• Synthesize customer feedback to inform Stripe’s product roadmap.
• Provide feedback to continuously improve self-serve offerings.
