Job summary

AXS is hiring a Manager, Payments and Fraud to lead macro-level analytics of payment performance and risk. You will drive opportunities to improve authorization, conversion, and cost efficiency across markets and providers.

You will build KPI definitions, dashboards, and executive reports while coordinating with Product, Engineering, Finance, Operations and external providers. This role grows into people management as the team expands.

Qualifications

• BA/BS Degree in Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 4-6 years of hands-on advanced SQL analysis using large transaction-level datasets and dashboards.
• 4-6 years of payments analytics, fraud analytics, payment operations, or related field.
• 4-6 years of leading complex cross-functional initiatives and coaching analysts.
• Advanced SQL skills to join, validate, and interpret data.
• Experience with Tableau, Looker and Snowflake or cloud data platforms.
• Knowledge of card payments, routing, settlement, fraud controls, and related economics.
• Knowledge of payment networks and providers (Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, ACI, Braintree, Stripe).
• Ability to frame ambiguous questions, perform root cause analysis, and quantify impact.
• Ability to communicate complex findings to technical and nontechnical audiences and influence decisions.

Responsibilities

• Lead deep-dive analysis of payment authorization, decline, conversion, routing, and costs; quantify opportunities by market and customer segment.
• Analyze fraud, chargeback, dispute, and loss data; identify patterns, gaps, and recommend changes to strategies and tools.
• Build and maintain KPI definitions, SQL analyses, dashboards, and executive reporting for performance and impact.
• Develop business cases and lead cross-functional optimization initiatives for routing, 3DS, and cross-border performance.
• Monitor high-volume sales events and material payment/fraud events; coordinate actions and improvements.
• Partner with Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, ACI, Braintree, Stripe; review performance and hold partners accountable.
• Advise Product, Engineering, Finance, Operations and leaders on priorities and policy changes.
• Establish operating model, standards, and coach analysts as the team grows.
