Job summary

AXS seeks a Manager, Payments and Fraud to lead macro-level analytics of payment performance and fraud risk across markets. You will use SQL, dashboards, and payments expertise to drive authorization uplift, reduce costs, and mitigate fraud while influencing product and engineering directions.

You will collaborate with major networks and internal teams, build KPI definitions, and mentor the analytics team as it grows, delivering actionable insights with broad business impact.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 4-6 years of hands-on advanced SQL analysis with large transaction-level datasets.
• 4-6 years in payments analytics or fraud analytics with cross-functional work.
• 4-6 years leading cross-functional initiatives and mentoring analysts.
• Advanced SQL skills to join, segment, and interpret large datasets.
• Dashboard development experience using Tableau or Looker; cloud data platforms like Snowflake.
• Strong knowledge of card payments, networks, and fraud controls.
• Experience with Visa, Mastercard, Amex, ACI, Braintree, Stripe.
• Ability to frame questions, quantify impact, and communicate findings to diverse audiences.
• Leadership to build and scale an analytics function.

Responsibilities

• Lead deep-dive analysis of payment data, identify trends by market and payment method.
• Analyze fraud, chargebacks, and losses; propose controls and strategic changes.
• Build KPI definitions, SQL analyses, dashboards, and executive reports.
• Develop business cases and run optimization initiatives for routing and fraud controls.
• Monitor high-volume sales events; perform root-cause analysis and coordinate actions.
• Collaborate with providers (Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, ACI, Stripe) to review performance and drive action.
• Advise product, engineering, and leadership on priorities and policies; present complex findings clearly.
• Define operating model and mentor the analytics team as it grows.
