Job summary

AXS is seeking a Manager, Payments and Fraud to lead macro-level analytics for payment performance and fraud risk. The role uses SQL, data visualization, and payments expertise to identify opportunities to improve authorization, conversion, and reduce losses across markets and providers.

The manager partners with major processors and internal teams, leading through influence and growing into people-management responsibilities as the analytics function expands.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree in Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, CS, Economics, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 4-6 years of hands-on advanced SQL analysis on large datasets.
• 4-6 years in payments analytics, fraud analytics, or related field.
• 4-6 years of leading complex cross-functional initiatives.
• Advanced SQL skills for joining, validating, and interpreting data.
• Advanced data visualization using Tableau/Looker; experience with Snowflake or similar.
• Knowledge of card payments, networks, settlement, chargebacks, and fraud controls.
• Familiarity with payment networks (Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, etc.) and tokenization/3DS.

Responsibilities

• Lead deep-dive analysis of payment data by market, issuer, network, gateway, and customer segment.
• Analyze fraud and chargeback data; identify patterns and opportunities; recommend changes to strategies and tools.
• Build and maintain KPI definitions, SQL analyses, dashboards, and executive reporting.
• Develop business cases and lead cross-functional optimization initiatives and post-implementation measurements.
• Monitor high-volume on-sales and payment/fraud events; coordinate actions and corrective measures.
• Partner with Visa, Mastercard, AmEx, ACI, Braintree, Stripe and internal teams to review performance and actions.
• Advise senior leaders on priorities and policy changes; communicate complex findings clearly.
• Establish operating model, standards, and coach analysts as the team grows.
