Job summary

Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. (Con Edison) seeks a Payment Processor to handle customer payments and related office tasks. Under supervision, you will operate mail handling and payment systems, balance accounts, and generate daily reports while supporting colleagues.

The role requires a high school diploma, basic accounting knowledge, and proficiency with computers. Lifting up to 30 lbs and potential long periods of sitting are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
• Proficiency with personal computers and keyboard.
• Efficient and accurate in keying numbers and bookkeeping.
• Willing to assist and instruct co-workers.
• Capable of lifting up to 30 lbs.
• May require prolonged sitting or standing.
• 15 month lock-in period for Payment Processor role.

Responsibilities

• Process all customer payments.
• Operate mail opening and extraction equipment.
• Operate payment transport equipment and perform keying/correction of image scan line, account, and/or amount.
• Balance payments with multiple checks and/or customer bills.
• Utilize customer service systems to access account information.
• Prepare daily bank deposits.
• Generate daily reports.
• Operate PC, calculator and other office equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
