Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced Paving Equipment Mechanic for a full-time, field-based role out of Marietta, GA, reporting to the Shop Manager. The work involves both field and shop duties, with potential weekend and night hours.

SUMMARY / JOB SCOPE:

The Paving Equipment Mechanic diagnoses and repairs paving equipment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 3 years of experience maintaining and repairing grading equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, and adjust equipment such as asphalt pavers, shuttle buggy, milling machine, rollers, brooms, skid steers, and loaders.
  • Repair and replace fuel systems, charging systems, and hydraulic systems.
  • Rebuild and replace wear plates, chains, blades, screed, conveyors, drive hubs, watering systems, and fuel systems.
  • Conduct inspections and diagnostic tests to determine machine condition.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, upgrades, and winterization procedures.
  • Correct deficiencies by repairing, adjusting, overhauling, and replacing major assemblies and components.
  • Test equipment performance post-repair and verify proper operation.
  • Comply with vehicle safety and emission standards.
  • Maintain shop equipment, troubleshoot breakdowns, and initiate repairs.
  • Service equipment with oil changes, fluid additions, and filter replacements.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic systems, engines, transmission, and drive trains.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Primarily in a shop, with outdoor work possible under extreme weather conditions.
  • Requires bending, stooping, climbing, standing, sitting, and working in confined or awkward positions.
  • Exposure to weather extremes, dust, and heights.

Work involves using standard shop tools and equipment, with accommodations available for disabilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Climb ladders, bend, twist, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in various weather conditions and environments.

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., with some nights and weekends required.
