Baldwin Paving Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced Grading Equipment Mechanic to join our team. This full-time, field-based role is based out of Marietta, GA, reporting to our Shop Manager. The work will primarily be performed in the field, with some tasks in the shop. Weekend work and day shifts are required.

Summary / Job Scope:

The mechanic is responsible for diagnosing and repairing the company's grading equipment.

Required Education and Experience:

Minimum 3 years of experience maintaining and repairing grading equipment.

Essential Functions:

  1. Inspect, diagnose, repair, and adjust:
  • Motor graders, dozers, excavators, backhoes, and rollers.
  1. Repair and replace:
  • Fuel, charging, and hydraulic systems.
  1. Rebuild and replace:
  • Cutting edges, teeth, shanks, mats, undercarriages, tracks, rollers, turntable & gearbox, drive hubs.
  1. Determine machine conditions through inspections and diagnostics, identifying worn or damaged parts.
  1. Perform preventive maintenance, including upgrades, corrosion control, and winterization.
  1. Correct deficiencies by repairing major assemblies and systems, conducting adjustments and alignments.
  1. Test machine performance post-repair and verify proper operation.
  1. Ensure compliance with vehicle standards through testing.
  1. Maintain shop equipment, troubleshoot breakdowns, and perform preventive maintenance.
  1. Service equipment with oil changes, fluid additions, and filter replacements.
  1. Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, diesel, and gasoline systems, engines, and drive trains.
  1. Test equipment performance before and after repairs.
  1. Perform other duties as assigned.

**Additional Requirements:**

  • At least 2 years of experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily in a shop, with outdoor work possible under extreme weather conditions.
  • Physical activities include bending, stooping, climbing, standing, sitting, and working in confined or awkward positions.

Work involves exposure to weather extremes, dust, and working at heights or in confined spaces.

This role uses standard shop tools and equipment. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.

Physical Demands:

  • Climb ladders/stairs, bend, twist, squat.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in adverse weather conditions.

This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., including weekends.
