Job summary

The City of Richmond, Virginia invites applications for the Maintenance and Operations Crew Chief in the Public Works Department. You will oversee pavement markings operations, supervise crew members, and ensure quality control while coordinating with multiple divisions.

The role requires a valid Virginia CDL within six months, and offers benefits including VRS, language incentives, and tuition assistance. This is a full-time, on-site position with emergency/on-call duties.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of college or specialized training or equivalent.
• Two years of equipment operation/driving experience.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience may be used.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of pavement marking installation and maintenance work.
• Inspect the work of assigned crew members and submit reports.
• Supervise staff, schedule assignments, and conduct evaluations.
• Oversee vehicle and equipment maintenance.
• Coordinate with other divisions and departments.
• Recommend project priorities and requisition materials/equipment.
• Interact with the public to address concerns about sign maintenance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Essential personnel may require extended hours during emergencies and events.
