Job summary

Amerex Group LLC in California is seeking an experienced Swimwear Pattern Maker to develop patterns for swimwear and cover-ups, from first pattern to production.

You will collaborate with the Design team, use Gerber CAD, and create technical sketches and pattern zip files for costing and production.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Swimwear Pattern Maker required.
  • High school diploma or GED; an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or Pattern Making is preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer drafting software, including CAD.
  • Experience with Gerber software.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design models.
  • Experience with measuring, snipping, milling, and cutting tools.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work to deadlines.

Job Overview

Amerex Group LLC is seeking an experiencedPattern Maker to join our Swimwear division. This position works closely with the Design team to develop patterns for swimwear and cover-up collections, taking styles from the first pattern through production.

Responsibilities and Duties

First Design & Development
  • Work with Designer(s) to develop first designs, following the Designer’s initial sketch to create patterns and specification sheets for specific fabrics.
  • Use Gerber software to create patterns for cutting and sewing.
  • Create paperwork using Excel with measurement specifications and sewing instructions for sample room development.
  • Work with the sample cutter and sample makers to construct garments.
  • Fit garments on the fit model and make necessary corrections, including construction, design lines according to the Designer, and fit based on the model.
  • Have garments re-made, when necessary, so they can be cut and sewn for the Sample Line.
  • Create Sketch Sheets using Excel for new styles to send for costing after styles are approved for the line.
  • Work with the Design Assistant to obtain fabric specifications for the Sketch Sheets.
  • Work with the Design Assistant to create technical sketches for the Sketch Sheets using Illustrator.
  • Create pattern zip files to send for costing.
  • Work with Designer(s) to have Sample Line(s) cut and sewn.
  • For private label lines, send Design Samples to clients for approval according to their specifications, including the requested size and fabric.
Production
  • Fit new styles on the fit model for production release.
  • Send graded production pattern zip files and specifications with Sketch Sheets for production.
  • Send Sketch Sheets for all styles, including new and carry-over styles, to Production.
  • Work with Production to release styles following orders and buys.
  • Send a sew-by sample of new styles for production sew-by.
  • Receive pre-production samples from the factory, measure them, and fit them on the fit model.
  • Approve or reject pre-production samples based on fit and construction.
  • Send pre-production approval/rejection specifications to the factory, including notes for any necessary corrections.
  • Fit shipment samples on the fit model for shipping approval.Li>
  • Send comments on all shipment samples to Quality Assurance.
  • For private label lines, create and send Audit Sheets for each style to the client when requested.
