Job description

A Los Angeles based fashion company is seeking an experienced Production Pattern Maker to support technical development and production. This role requires advanced patternmaking expertise and the ability to translate design concepts into production ready Gerber patterns while maintaining fit, proportion, and construction standards.

This is a technical production role, not a fashion design position. The ideal candidate brings deep Gerber knowledge, strong grading skills, and extensive experience in garment construction and fit.

Responsibilities

• Create, build, and maintain production ready patterns in Gerber
• Digitize and translate existing patterns, drapes, and samples into accurate production files
• Develop clean, organized, and technically precise patterns for production
• Create grading rules and maintain consistency across size ranges
• Help establish and communicate grading and technical standards within production workflows
• Maintain fit, proportion, and silhouette throughout all sizes
• Partner with design, cutting, and sewing teams during development and production
• Support fittings and execute technical fit corrections
• Guide construction methods and sewing techniques with production teams
• Review garments in progress to identify fit or construction issues before completion
• Maintain organized Gerber files, markers, grading, and specification standards
• Work with delicate fabrics and structured garment construction
• Contribute to process improvements across atelier and production workflows

Requirements

• Advanced Gerber experience required
• Strong experience building production patterns directly in Gerber
• Senior level draping and patternmaking skills
• Expert understanding of fit, grading, garment balance, and production construction
• Advanced knowledge of grading rules and proportional balance across size ranges
• Strong understanding of structured garments, silhouette, and fit scaling
• High level sewing and construction knowledge
• Ability to clearly communicate construction methods and sewing techniques to production teams
• Experience translating high concept or sample garments into production
• Strong technical knowledge of special occasion, structured, or luxury garment construction
• Ability to identify and solve fit and construction issues independently
