Job summary

City of Leander Public Library in Leander, TX, is seeking an entry-level Library Assistant to support daily operations, assist patrons, and help with circulation tasks. The role involves helping users in person and by phone, guiding them to resources, and performing basic administrative duties under supervision.

You will assist with programs, collections, technology access, shelving, and maintenance of materials, with opportunities to learn library systems and Dewey Decimal procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year of customer service experience.
• Six months library experience OR 4 college credits in Library Science or related field.
• Ability to work varied hours including mornings, evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist library users in person and by phone with questions and directions.
• Support circulation tasks: memberships, inter-library loans, reservations, payments.
• Provide technology support for public computers and online resources.
• Shelving, receiving, processing and replacement of library materials.
• Assist librarians with collection development, maintenance and program support.
• Attend meetings and training; perform opening/closing duties and light cleaning.
