Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare in Carbondale, IL seeks a Perioperative Support Technician to assist the surgical team with patient transport, room setup and turnover. The role supports infection prevention efforts and maintains supplies for efficient case flow.

Responsibilities include escorting patients, preparing ORs, handling instruments, and coordinating with EVS and Sterile Processing to ensure readiness for procedures and the next day.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in perioperative or hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets, escorts, and transports patients and visitors to and from surgical areas in a courteous and professional manner.
• Assists surgical staff with operating room turnover and room preparation between cases.
• Performs damp dusting in operating rooms to support infection prevention standards.
• Cleans surgical rooms and changes linens as needed.
• Assists with pulling instruments and preparing operating rooms for procedures or the following day.
• Transports surgical specimens to the laboratory per established protocols.
• Monitors portable oxygen tanks and replaces empty tanks as necessary.
• Stocking and refilling supplies to ensure case readiness.
