Job summary

Memorial Hospital of Carbondale is seeking a Registered Nurse for the PACU (Recovery Room) on the day shift. The position runs 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM for 3 days a week, with call required.

The role requires an RN license in Illinois, current CPR/BLS, and ACLS/PALS within 6 months of hire. Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, teaching, and collaboration with the care team.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs.
• Establish compassionate environment to provide support to patients and families.

• Provide health teaching and counseling to promote health and wellness.
• Demonstrate clinical judgement with critical thinking to respond to changes in patient condition.
• Complete accurate, timely documentation in the patient medical record.
• Contribute to policy and procedure development to support patient safety and quality of care.
• Supervise and delegate to Licensed Practical Nurse and/or unlicensed assistive personnel.
• Advocate for the patient through communication with other health professionals.
• Complete required education, competencies, and licensure on time.
• Float to other SIH nursing units within competency level.
