Corewell Health's Royal Oak Hospital is seeking a part-time Patient Transporter for night shifts to move patients, specimens, and medications safely throughout the facility. Duties include assisting patients in and out of vehicles and beds, and supporting care teams across treatment areas.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Requires successful completion of three months of on-the-job training.
• BLS/CRT certification (AHA or ARC) upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients, specimens, and medications safely and timely.
• Assist patients in and out of vehicles and beds; move to treatment areas.
• Transport bodies to morgue as directed and support autopsy prep as needed.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge through provided educational opportunities.

Job description

Job Summary

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients, specimens, and medication, throughout the Hospital as assigned. This position reports to the Supervisor, Patient Transportation.

Essential Functions

• Practicing safe lifting and techniques, transports patients by assisting patients in and out of cars, lifting patients on and off beds, moving patients to and from special services and treatment areas using wheelchairs, gurneys, or moveable beds.
• Transports medications, patient charts, specimens, and blood appropriately as directed.
• Transports bodies to the morgue and assists in placing them in the cooler. Assists in moving bodies to the autopsy table.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities provided.

Qualifications

Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Requires successful completion of three months of on-the-job-training.
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Upon Hire Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross Upon Hire.

Preferred

• Experience in patient transportation in an acute hospital environment is desired.
