Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a Patient Transport Aide at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids to support patient movement and care coordination. You will transport patients and equipment, assist with basic needs under RN guidance, and help maintain a clean, safe environment in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The role requires adherence to identification procedures, effective communication with clinical staff, and reliable discharge support. This position is part-time with variable days and hours.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
• BLS certification from the American Red Cross (ARC) required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for transport and ensures proper identification before transporting.
• Transports patients and equipment to testing and procedure areas including ICU and both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Communicates with medical staff to ensure required supplies and medications are transported with the patient; administers oxygen when needed.
• Responsible for timely discharge of patients.
• Assists under RN direction in toileting ambulatory patients.
• Cleans and disinfects equipment; maintains clean work areas and reports malfunctioning equipment.

Schedule: Part Time, Variable days and Variable hours

Job Summary

Transports all patient populations to and from examinations and treatments. Performs general errands and other routine duties including cleaning equipment, securing supplies, and other tasks as required. Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care. Adheres to unit procedures wherever transport services rendered.

Essential Functions

• Prepares patient for transport and performs passive and active identification to ensure all patients are properly identified before transporting.
• Transports all patients and equipment to and from testing and procedure areas including inpatient, outpatient, emergency and high risk Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
• Effectively communicates with medical employees to ensure all required medical supplies and medications are appropriately transported with the patient including the administering of oxygen when required.
• Responsible for the timely discharge of patients throughout the hospital.
• Under the direction of medical employees and/or Registered Nurse (RN), assists in providing support in toileting ambulatory patients.
• Cleans and disinfects equipment according to established policies and procedures. Maintains clean work areas and returns equipment to appropriate department. Communicates malfunctioning equipment/instruments to appropriate department/unit staff.
