Job summary

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Transport Coordinator in Richmond, VA to facilitate medical transport across facilities. You will dispatch assets, coordinate with third‑party vendors, and document patient information using multiple systems to ensure timely, safe patient movement.

The role requires strong communication, multitasking, and knowledge of medical terminology, with EMTALA education maintained and patient confidentiality upheld.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or higher preferred.
• Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Experience in call center/dispatch center preferred.
• EMT certification preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with team.
• Proficient with multiple computer programs and applications.
• Ability to multitask and act on multiple tasks.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Familiarity with hospital and transportation services.

Responsibilities

• Receive medical transportation requests and coordinate transport through third‑party vendor coordination and dispatch of medical transport assets.
• Use technology tools to document patient information, dispatch medical transport assets, and monitor transport progress.
• Respond to phone calls with a sense of urgency and demonstrate good customer service skills.
• Receive and maintain EMTALA education to prevent and identify risk to facility.
• Establish and maintain a high degree of awareness and knowledge of facility medical staff, services and specialized programs.
• Enter and supports data entry for accurate monitoring and reporting on all key indicators related to calls, admissions and transports.
• Ensure patient rights and confidentiality are maintained.
• Participate as an active and collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team.
• Participate in monthly staff meetings.
• Deal effectively with dissatisfied customers and elevate cases to leadership.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.
