Job summary

MercyOne Health Ministries is seeking a Patient Logistics Access Specialist to serve as the first contact for transfer and admission requests, initiating transfer workflows with accurate demographics and referral details. This non-clinical role supports EMTALA-sensitive documentation and coordinates with facilities, EMS, and transport teams to ensure timely patient movement.

The position is part-time with rotating shifts (0700–1900).

Qualifications

• Health care experience required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s Degree or equal experience preferred.
• Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

Responsibilities

• Knows, understands, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behavior and decisions.
• Serves as the first point of contact for incoming transfer, admission, and consultation requests, ensuring calls are answered promptly and routed correctly.
• Collects and verifies accurate demographic, referral, and operational information to initiate the transfer workflow.
• Manages multi-line phone activity, prioritizing calls and minimizing delays for safe patient transitions.
• Documents all call details in electronic health records and transfer management systems with accuracy.
• Routes calls to the appropriate clinician or operational team member based on protocols.
• Supports EMTALA-specific processes by ensuring complete intake documentation and escalating red flags.
• Coordinates non-clinical transport logistics and communicates status changes.
