GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Patient Support Coordinator I.

Position purpose: The Patient Support Coordinator provides new and existing patients with the best possible patient experience in relation to their billing inquiries, procedure pre-payments/estimates, and feedback.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

  • Review account details for patient education and concerns.
  • Communicate with patients about outstanding balances and assist in resolving account questions.
  • Advise patients on options to resolve bad debt balances.
  • Maintain productivity standards and comply with company policies.
  • Deescalate upset patients professionally.
  • Research and resolve billing inquiries promptly.
  • Follow up with patients and escalate issues as needed.
  • Collect pre-payments and outstanding balances prior to appointments.
  • Assist with infusion patient applications to assistance programs.
  • Update patient demographics and insurance information.
  • Interpret insurance benefits and explain financial responsibilities.
  • Review appointments and medical records for benefit coverage.
  • Structure payment plans and ensure timely payments.
  • Manage accounts with collection agencies when applicable.
  • Refile claims if necessary and contact insurance carriers for claim status.
  • Document inquiries accurately to improve customer service.
  • Identify and escalate patient concerns for corrective action.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-5 years of patient responsibility collections experience in a medical or call center setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in computer skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD10 coding.
  • Ability to interpret medical benefits and EOBs.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Strong ethics.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Remote work; occasional physical activities; ability to lift up to 15 pounds; specific vision abilities required.
