Description

GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Patient Support Coordinator I. This position involves working with patients on Pacific Standard and Mountain Standard Time.

The duties include, but are not limited to:

Position Purpose

The Patient Support Coordinator provides patients with the best possible experience regarding billing inquiries, procedure pre-payments/estimates, and feedback.

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Review account details for patient education and concerns, including balances and payment options.
  • Maintain productivity standards and comply with company policies.
  • Calmly deescalate upset patients and research billing inquiries.
  • Follow up with patients for updates or resolutions.
  • Escalate issues to leadership or relevant departments as needed.
  • Initiate contact with patients for pre-payments and outstanding balances.
  • Assist with infusion patient applications for assistance programs.
  • Update patient demographics and insurance information.
  • Interpret insurance benefits and explain financial responsibilities.
  • Review appointments and medical records to determine benefit coverage.
  • Structure payment plans and ensure timely payments.
  • Place accounts with collection agencies when appropriate.
  • Refile claims if errors are found and follow up on insurance payments.
  • Document inquiries and concerns in patient records.
  • Identify and escalate patient concerns for corrective actions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: 2-5 years in patient collections in a medical office or call center

Performance Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient with computers and technical tools.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD10 coding.
  • Ability to interpret insurance benefits and EOBs.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Strong ethics.
Additional Details

Equipment: Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc.

Work Environment: Remote work setup.

Physical Requirements: Occasional movement, lifting up to 15 pounds, and specific vision abilities.
