Join to apply for the Patient Support Coordinator I role at GI Alliance.

GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Patient Support Coordinator I. This position will work with patients on Pacific Standard and Mountain Standard Time.

Responsibilities:

  • Review account details for patient education and concerns, including balances and payment options.
  • Assist patients with billing inquiries, resolve account questions, and communicate about outstanding balances.
  • Maintain productivity and performance standards in compliance with company policies.
  • De-escalate upset patients professionally and calmly.
  • Research and resolve billing inquiries promptly via verbal, voicemail, or written communication.
  • Follow up with patients to provide updates or resolutions as needed.
  • Escalate issues to leadership or relevant departments when necessary.
  • Initiate contact with patients for pre-payments and outstanding balances before appointments.
  • Facilitate infusion patient applications to assistance programs.
  • Update patient demographics and insurance information accurately.
  • Interpret insurance benefits and explain financial responsibilities.
  • Review appointments and medical records to determine and explain coverage.
  • Structure and ensure receipt of payment plans.
  • Place accounts with collection agencies when appropriate.
  • Refile claims to ensure payment when errors occur.
  • Contact insurance carriers to follow up on claim payments.
  • Document all inquiries thoroughly in patient records.
  • Identify and escalate patient concerns for corrective action.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-5 years of experience in patient responsibility collections in a medical office or call center.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in computer skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD10 coding.
  • Ability to interpret insurance benefits and explanation of benefits (EOB).
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Attention to detail, self-motivation, and ethical conduct.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Remote work setting.
  • Standard office equipment use; occasional physical activity including lifting up to 15 pounds.
