Job summary

PathGroup seeks a Patient Services Technician to support the PSC or in-office PST duties under area supervision. You will perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing with accuracy and professionalism, interacting with clients, patients, and PathGroup staff daily.

The role emphasizes safe specimen collection, precise data entry, and adherence to established procedures to maintain specimen integrity and patient comfort.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers appropriately. Treat all customers in a courteous manner.
• Ensures all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
• Collects specimens according to established procedures; explains venipuncture procedures clearly to patients.
• Disposes of blood or other biohazard materials per laws and policies.
• Completes requisitions accurately in PathConnect and other PathGroup computer systems.
• Enters patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information with high attention to detail.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required; ensures specimen integrity.
• Packages specimens for transport and stores samples per required temperatures.
• Maintains daily PSC/IOPST logs and applicable records; assists with monthly statistics.
