Job summary

PathGroup is seeking a Patient Services Technician to perform daily patient service activities in the PSC or in-office, handling forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing with accuracy and courtesy.

The role involves phlebotomy, data entry, maintaining records, and cooperating with supervisors to ensure timely, compliant operations while upholding safety and confidentiality standards.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers appropriately. Treat all customers in a courteous manner.
• Ensures all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
• Collects specimens according to established procedures. Explains venipuncture and other specimen collection steps clearly and calmly.
• Disposes of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue in accordance with laws and policies.
• Completes requisitions accurately in PathConnect and/or other PathGroup computer applications.
• Enters patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into computer with high accuracy.
• Packages specimens for transport and stores samples per required temperatures to maintain integrity.
• Maintains daily records and PSC/IOPST logs; assists with monthly statistics.
• Performs electronic data entry and basic clerical duties; submits expense and travel logs as directed.
