Job summary

UPMC is hiring a full-time Patient Service Representative to support the Primary Care Good Hope team in Enola. The role is based in our new building with a Monday–Friday schedule, daytime hours, and occasional rotating evenings; travel is limited to nearby offices as needed.

The Patient Services Representative is the first contact for patients, guiding them through check‑in, collecting copays, updating demographics, and connecting patients with financial advocacy as needed.

Qualifications

• Provide a warm greeting to every patient.
• Assist patients with check‑in and navigation to the self‑arrival technology or desk check‑in as preferred.
• Collect copayments and other patient payments at the point of service.

Responsibilities

• Provide a warm greeting for all patients.
• Guide patient through use of self-arrival technology or check‑in at desk depending on patient preference.
• Collect copayments and any other applicable patient payments at the point of service.
• Confirm and/or update patient registration information at checkout and schedule follow‑up appointments.
• Provide follow‑up to unresolved patient questions or needs to ensure continuity of care.
• Understand service recovery principles and take appropriate action to recover from service gaps.
• Promote MyUPMC patient portal and assist patients with registration.
• Verify insurance benefits with the carrier via online systems or phone inquiries.
• Obtain signatures for consent to treatment and financial responsibility per HIPAA rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
