Job summary

UPMC Rehabilitation Institute in McCandless seeks a full-time Patient Services Representative to join our team. The role schedules Mon–Fri with no weekends or major holidays, focusing on welcoming patients, educating them about copayments, and guiding them through the care continuum.

You will assist with registration, scheduling follow-ups, connecting patients to financial advocacy, and navigating the MyUPMC portal to ensure a seamless patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide a warm greeting for all patients.
• Guide patient through use of self-arrival technology or check-in at desk.
• Collect copayments and any other applicable patient payments.
• Confirm and/or update patient registration information at checkout.
• Schedule follow-up appointments within the practice at checkout.
• Schedule or connect patient to resources to schedule for ancillary services.
• Help patients navigate the healthcare system with clear instructions.
• Understand service recovery and take action to recover from service failures.
• Register patients in Biometrics program and explain benefits.
• Promote MyUPMC patient portal and assist with registration.
• Educate patients on financial responsibility and connect to advocacy resources.
• Confirm/verify insurance benefits with carrier via online verification or phone.
• Obtain signature of patient or family for consent to treatment under HIPAA rules.
• Triage phone calls to other areas or clinical providers.
• Assist with administrative duties (scanning, faxing).
• Stay informed on navigation of UPMC Patient Portal and communicate how to use it.
