Job summary

Appalachian Primary Care in Boone, NC is seeking a Patient Service Coordinator - Primary Care to welcome patients, update records, and guide them through visits, ensuring a smooth and pleasant experience.

For the exceptional candidate, cross-training on basic medical assistant responsibilities and introductory lab protocols in our on-site diagnostic laboratory will be available to aid in patient care and compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Medical Office Training Certificate preferred or equivalent medical office experience.
• One year experience in customer service preferred.
• One year experience with medical terminology preferred.
• Must have good organizational skills.
• Must have the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Must have strong communication skills.
• Proficient in computers and keyboarding.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Must have a service-oriented personality, great customer service skills required.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients in waiting area and receives registration/visitation information to ensure proper care.
• Performs patient check-in procedures, including collecting demographic and insurance information.
• Collects co-pays, deductibles and other fees; sets up payment plans per APC policy; assists with billing questions.
• Answers all telephone calls; ensures inquiries are handled, transferred, or closed properly.
• Checks messages and completes system tasks; replies to emails/voicemails and forwards information as needed.
• Performs patient check-out procedures: schedules follow-up, issues reminder cards, records payments.
