Job summary

Adventist HealthCare's Outpatient Imaging seeks a Patient Service Specialist for our Silver Spring, MD location. The role involves greeting patients, scheduling appointments and tests, verifying demographics and insurance, and handling payments while ensuring smooth patient flow and accurate records.

The ideal candidate has strong customer service experience, scheduling experience, and knowledge of medical terminology, with a 30 wpm typing speed.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or 2-year college preferred.
• 3 years of customer service experience.
• 1 year of patient scheduling experience preferred.
• Experience with computerized scheduling system or computer terminals.
• Familiarity with medical insurance and medical terminology.
• Typing speed of 30 wpm.
• Knowledge of IDX patient scheduling/registration systems preferred.
• 2 years of office management experience in a physician office/ambulatory care setting.

Responsibilities

• Greet and direct patients for appointments, tests, referrals and information using strong customer relations and telephone skills.
• Schedule patient appointments and tests using a computerized scheduling system and prepare notices.
• Verify patient demographics, financial and insurance information.
• Perform pre-registration activities and determine medical insurance coverage.
• Register patients into the computerized system and balance daily cash receipts.
• Counsel patients on unpaid balances and anticipated costs of services.
