Job summary

InterMed is seeking a Patient Services Representative to act as the main contact for patients calling with medical concerns, administrative requests, and scheduling matters in a fast-paced call center. The role requires exceptional customer service, scheduling judgment, and superb listening and communication skills.

The candidate should be able to handle urgent/critical calls with empathy, manage multiple tasks, and navigate Windows-based systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to stay calm and empathetic during urgent calls.
• Strong organizational skills and judgment.
• Excellent professional communication and phone etiquette.
• Proficiency with Windows-based computer applications.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and adhere to metrics.

Responsibilities

• Primarily answer incoming calls for multiple Primary Care practices.
• Redirect calls for Specialty Departments when needed.
• Schedule routine and follow-up patient appointments.
• Reschedule or cancel appointments as needed.
• Confirm future appointments.
• Assist patients with physician access or sick visits using screening tools.
• Process prescription refills and referrals as requested.
• Provide general practice information to patients.
• Respond to patient requests within established processes and metrics.
• Aim for first-call resolution with every interaction.
• Participate in on-site training and team collaboration as directed.
