Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation in Plano, TX is seeking a Patient Service Specialist (PSS). This full-time role offers hours Monday–Friday 7am–7pm and a starting salary of $19–$25 per hour, based on experience.

You will manage referrals, schedule patients, verify insurance, collect copays, and maintain the electronic medical record. Strong customer service and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Preferred: customer service experience.
• Knowledge of insurance verification.
• Healthcare, medical, or dental office administration.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates patient appointments, working with Center manager to minimize cancellations.
• Registers patient information and documents forms in the electronic medical record.
• Verifies insurance and obtains required authorizations; explains benefits and responsibilities.
• Collects patient payments at each visit and maintains billing accuracy.
• Scans and maintains medical documents; reconciles charges daily.
• Responds to information requests from patients and other departments.
• Maintains office, orders supplies and manages mail.
• Willingness to adjust schedule to center needs; travels as required.
