Job summary

Methodist Health System is seeking a Patient Representative for our Patient Care Facility in North Texas. You will greet patients, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and enter charges in the EMR.

The role requires strong communication and accuracy with demographic and billing data and may involve travel to satellite practices. We value experience in medical office operations, ability to handle confidential information, and proficiency with medical office technology.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills with judgement and discretion.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology and coding preferred.
• Previous two years in a front office using medical management software preferred.
• Typing or data entry at 40 wpm preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains strictest confidentiality.
• Greets patients in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.
• Checks-in patients, verifies and updates demographic and insurance information; assists patients with ambulatory difficulties; follows scheduling policies; collects payments and enters charges.
• Registers new patients into the computer system and verifies addresses, phone numbers and insurance information.
• Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages, and conveys information to appropriate parties; proficient with medical office technology systems; works with EMR; schedules referrals; travels to satellite practices as needed; maintains lobby materials and refreshments; schedules follow-up appointments.
• Maintains work area and reception area in neat and orderly manner.
• Advises Practice Manager of problems and helps with problem solving.
• Attends educational and staff meetings as scheduled.
• Determines and inputs daily balance of charges and receipts as assigned; follows policies; adheres to OSHA and HIPAA regulations.
