Job summary

OrthoAtlanta is seeking a dedicated front desk specialist to greet patients, check them in/out, and answer questions about appointments, insurance, or procedures. You will manage the reception area in a fast-paced orthopedic practice.

You will collect co-pays, schedule follow-ups, update EMR data, and coordinate with other facilities for imaging. The role requires excellent communication, attention to detail, and a patient-centered approach.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of experience in a medical office or clinical setting.
  • Strong customer service skills and a patient-centered approach.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and EMR systems (Epic a plus).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Discretion with patient information.
  • Experience with front office leadership, financial reconciliation, and insurance verification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, check them in/out, and answer questions about appointments, insurance, or procedures.
  • Collect co-pays, prepayments, and balances; explain policies as needed.
  • Schedule appointments and handle incoming calls; ensure timely communication.
  • Input and update patient demographics, injuries, insurance, and referrals in the EMR.
  • Open/close front office; maintain waiting area; manage reschedules or cancellations.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits; coordinate with outside facilities for imaging or referrals.
  • Work EMR buckets and support clinical staff with documentation.
  • Assist with cash drawer reconciliation, deposits, and billing charge entry for end-of-day reporting.

Job description

What You’ll Do
  • Greet patients warmly, check them in and out, and assist with questions about appointments, insurance, or procedures
  • Collect co-pays, prepayments, and outstanding balances accurately, while explaining financial policies as needed
  • Schedule new and follow-up appointments, answer incoming calls, and ensure timely patient communication and follow-up
  • Input and update patient demographics, case injury information, insurance details, and referrals into the EMR system
  • Open and close the front office, maintain a clean and organized waiting area, and monitor appointment reschedules or cancellations
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, obtain necessary forms, and coordinate with outside facilities for imaging or referrals
  • Work assigned EMR “buckets” (e.g., No Show, Reschedule, Missing Slips) and support clinical staff with documentation and follow-through
  • Assist with daily cash drawer reconciliation, deposits, and billing charge entry to ensure accurate end-of-day financial reporting
