Job summary

Novant Health Urgent Cares is seeking a patient service representative (PSR) to provide exceptional support to our patients. The PSR will greet patients, manage paperwork, and maintain office standards while ensuring accurate patient information entry and co-payment collection.

This is a full-time position based in Murrells Inlet, SC, with a sign-on bonus of $500 available for new hires.

Job description

What Are We Looking For?

NHUC is currently looking for a patient service representative (PSR) to join our team. The PSR greets patients, assists with paperwork, maintains the sign‑in sheet, and ensures the front office appearance. The PSR also ensures accurate patient demographics, enters charges into the system, and collects co‑payments as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recognize patient distress and take action as necessary.
  • Greet patients and ensure the sign‑in process is completed; inform patients of approximate wait times.
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility via telephone, fax, or Internet, collect co‑payments, and correct patient demographics.
  • Answer incoming calls and schedule appointments as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of counters, trash, and front area.
  • Refer patients to the billing department when needed.
  • Perform daily balancing activities (proofing/posting) and deposit funds to bank as needed.
  • Copy patient medical records and send when requested.
  • File charts, including ladder use and lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Assist in training new employees and maintain compliance with training in Code of Conduct, timekeeping, Sexual Harassment, Workplace Violence, OSHA/HIPAA.
  • Complete PSR career development program within the first year.
  • Other duties as assigned.
