Job summary

MaineGeneral Health Patient Service Reps are the pillar of our practices, acting as a patient advocate, access specialist, and service coordinator. You will schedule appointments, verify insurance, maintain patient records, and facilitate communication between healthcare providers.

You will work with a team to greet patients, handle phones, collect payments, and ensure accurate registration data, using Microsoft Office and hospital systems daily.

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication, and support skills.
• Ability to be flexible and shift priorities quickly.
• Strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients, answers phones, and performs clerical duties as needed to support clinical departments.
• Schedules appointment times using computerized scheduling programs.
• Verifies insurance benefits and may obtain precertification/authorization as necessary.
• Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, and/or refers to financial counselors for follow-up.
• Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered into the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
