Job summary

PathGroup is seeking a Patient Services Technician to perform daily patient service activities in the PSC or in-office PST, under the direction of the area supervisor. The role involves interacting with clients, patients and PathGroup personnel while performing forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing in accordance with established practices and procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred (may be required based on state and laboratory guidelines).
• Phlebotomist Certification is preferred (Required in Louisiana).
• At least 1 year of prior job-related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers appropriately. Treat all customers in a courteous manner.
• Ensures all field phlebotomy and PSC specimens are collected accurately and on time.
• Collects specimens according to established procedures and explains the venipuncture process clearly.
• Disposes of blood or other biohazard fluids or tissue following applicable laws and policies.
• Completes requisitions accurately in PathConnect and/or other PathGroup applications.
• Enters patient, specimen, insurance, or billing information into the computer with attention to detail.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and handles labeling, centrifugation, and storage.
• Packages specimens for transport and maintains specimen integrity during transport.
