Job summary

PathGroup is seeking a Patient Services Technician to perform daily patient service activities at the Patient Services Center or in-office, under supervision. The role involves forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing with professional interaction with clients and patients.

The position requires handling phlebotomy tasks, accurate data entry, and strict adherence to safety and privacy policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Phlebotomist Certification preferred (Louisiana requirement).
• At least 1 year of prior job-related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets customers appropriately and maintains courteous interactions.
• Collects specimens accurately and on time following established procedures.
• Explains venipuncture process clearly to patients and reduces anxiety.
• Disposes of biohazards and sharps per laws and policies.
• Completes requisitions and enters data into PathConnect and other systems.
• Labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens as required.
• Packages specimens for transport and maintains correct storage temperatures.
• Maintains records and daily PSC/IOPST logs and assists with monthly statistics.
• Performs basic clerical duties and electronic data entry.
• Adheres to grooming, lab coat policies, and safety protocols.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Phlebotomist Certification (preferred)
