Job summary

The Ohio State University Physicians, Inc. seeks Lead Patient Service Associates to coordinate and provide patient support across outpatient offices in Columbus. You will greet patients, register, update demographics, handle calls, schedule appointments, assist with payments, and maintain medical records in EMR or paper charts while supporting day-to-day operations.

Travel to other clinics may be required. Strong customer service, multitasking, problem solving, and written/verbal communication

Qualifications

  • Customer service experience is required.
  • Strong problem solving and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive situations with professionalism.
  • Attendance, punctuality, and teamwork are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients and visitors, registers and checks in patients, updates demographics and insurance in the system.
  • Answers calls, takes messages, relays information, and communicates with referring offices.
  • Performs check-out tasks: copays, scheduling, after-visit summaries, and follow-up tests where applicable.
  • Monitors wait times and notifies nurses or managers as needed.
  • Opens and routes mail, distributes documents, and tracks patient information.
  • Requests and handles referrals and medical records for new patient appointments.
  • Schedules appointments as directed.
  • Maintains cash drawer and processes deposits; completes related paperwork.
  • Contacts insurance providers for registrations and pre-certifications.
  • Uses job-related software and systems.
  • Travel may be required to other clinical facilities.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and teamwork.
